Incubation Rite

Every night during SunFest, four people will have the opportunity to “incubate” or dream in the Temple of Isis with the Goddess. Here is the brief rite they may use, and you may use to have a dream of Isis.

To Have a Dream of Isis

Having eaten little or nothing for three hours before, make your sleeping chamber/temple clean and pleasant. Bathe well, prepare for sleep, and anoint yourself with any pleasant scent.

Formulate the question about which you wish to receive information, then write the question upon a small sheet of paper. With the paper pressed to your heart, speak this prayer:

Dreamer: (Vibrating) ISIS. ISIS. ISIS. O Lady of the Moon, Night’s ornament, Who brings Light to mortals, come You and hear my prayer.

O Daughter of Night, You are the traverser of the eternal starry heavens and the boundless abyss of night and dreams.

Beginning and end are You. All things are from You, and in You, Eternal One, do all things come to their end. O Isis, Lady of Light in Darkness, revealer of hidden things, come in holy Light and give answer concerning this matter which is in my heart.

Place the written question beneath your pillow. Make an offering of sweet-scented incense (or other offering as you wish) to Isis, the Lady of the Moon and Night and Dreams, then go to bed, repeating this prayer before falling asleep, as many times as desired:

Dreamer: O Isis, Lady of Light in Darkness, revealer of hidden things, come in holy Light and give answer concerning this matter which is in my heart. O Lady of the Moon, appear to me in dream.

Upon waking, remain still, remembering your dreams before arising.
